LightSail is a comprehensive online literacy platform that enables students to read, write, learn, and grow. There are thousands of books available to students of all ages with Lexile assessments for each one to determine comprehension.

It only takes a few seconds to download and then the students will be all set to read either at home or at school through a personalized eReader. With the eReader, students can change the setting to make reading a bit easier. For instance, they can adjust the font size and color, how many lines of the text they see at once, and even activate the read-aloud artificial intelligence (AI) option.

LightSail paired up with Johns Hopkins School of Education to research how well students perform using the LightSail edtech. Interestingly, 84 percent of the students enjoyed reading books on LightSail more than reading printed books. Plus, the majority of the students were able to navigate LightSail without a problem.

Furthermore, reading just 30 minutes a day on LightSail was shown to provide 3.9x gains in students’ Lexile scores. To put it simply, using LightSail, in or out of the classroom, benefits the students.

A Minnesota native, Anna has more than 20 years of experience in education. Starting out as a school psychologist in primary schools, she later became an English language teacher. However, she discovered her true passion in 2010 with a transition to a role of educational consultant for international schools. In that role Anna was able to collaborate with schools covering all manner of curriculums to find the best print and digital materials for the library and classroom to help engage learners and for the school to meet the educational goals they had set.

Anna prides herself in the positive and long-lasting relationships she has built with inspiring international educators around the world, based on the fundamental belief that her role is to help make their jobs easier.

Anna is based in Madrid, Spain and when not working she enjoys going on family walks, reading books with her two little ones, cooking, gardening and catching up on favorite series.

Seonad Cook

Seonad is a seasoned educator with a robust international background in supporting educational development across schools in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the USA. Holding a Master's Degree in Education from the prestigious University of Cambridge in the UK, she is also a qualified High School teacher of Mathematics and Computing. With over 40 years of experience in the education sector, including 20 years as a classroom teacher, Seonad has held senior-level positions in education administration and is deeply passionate about making a meaningful impact on education.

Through her leadership in designing and implementing large-scale education and training initiatives, Seonad has assisted over 56,000 teachers and school principals in achieving their professional goals, positively impacting the education of over 4 million children worldwide.

Seonad possesses a wealth of expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and technology integration. She remains committed to advancing the mission of empowering educators and transforming student learning experiences through access to world-class educational resources and education initiatives.

Marina Racy

Marina is Brazilian, having lived in the US in her pre-teen years. She has a teaching degree, and for over 50 years has expanded her career in Education, from teaching primary students at Graded School in Sao Paulo to developing the Englsh curriculum for bilingual schools in Brazil. She has also widened her experience as Sales Consultant and Teacher Trainer to international and ELT schools while working with different publishers.

In the last 17 years, she worked closely with librarians in South America, by providing content, digital services and support, in order to help them to enhance their library collection and strengthen the library-classroom connection in their schools. During this time, Marina grew her love for libraries and, as a result, even gained a few library skills.

Marina is passionate about her work and is highly motivated in helping educators to achieve their educational purpose and succeed in their role.

Today she is based in Bertioga, São Paulo. In her spare time, she enjoys riding her bike on the beach, cooking, watching movies and socializing with her friends.

Meet Pat, our Operational Lead at EPC. He brings over 25 years of Operations Management expertise to the table, with thirteen years dedicated to the International School market.

Pat's knack for ensuring top-notch quality in our product portfolios, along with his skills in shipping and logistics coordination, contract negotiations, and quality control, truly set the operational tone here at EPC. He takes pride in harmonizing operational efficiencies, making sure everything runs like a well-oiled machine.

Outside the office, Pat's adventurous spirit shines through. Whether he's navigating the rapids on a white-water rafting trip or enjoying a peaceful canoe trip with his family, he embraces the great outdoors. You might also catch him in his woodworking shop or ambitiously starting (but not always finishing) projects around his home.

With over 25 years of experience in the Public Library and International School Markets, I have developed a deep passion for literacy and supporting educators and learners in their quest for success! As a result, founding EPC to deliver the best-in-class resources is a dream-come-true and being joined by a team of consummate professionals and dedicated partners has created a journey I’m excited to begin.

Working with International Schools for the past 13 years, I am awed by the dedication educators around the world have in supporting their students. Learning from them how the right resources and a tailored curriculum develops global citizens prepared to contribute to the world inspires me daily to find new ways to deliver products and services that support their mission.

Living in Illinois seems like a long way from schools located around the world. But I have found the world is small when it comes to being involved with learning, and travelling to participate in conferences and events supporting education is a treat.

One thing my career has taught me is education is critical and literacy is the lynchpin for success. I love my job!
